23 Sep Your Social Media Accounts Should Do More Than Promote Your Content
Social media is all about sharing content that your followers will engage with, enjoy, and share with their own followers. So why would you share just your own content on your social media accounts? If you’re only sharing your own stuff, your social profiles could be doing so much more to engage with your audience!
Connecting with Your Community
The point of sharing any content on social media is to connect you with your followers. In theory, because they follow your social media profiles, then they probably like your content. But that’s just the starting point. Remember that social media is SOCIAL, so don’t talk about yourself too much.
Curate additional content related to yours that you believe your followers will find useful, fun, or interesting. This is known as content curation and it can really help boost your reputation. Share content that is relevant to your followers. For example, if you’re a local bike shop and you know that there’s a 5-mile charity bike race coming up, promote the event to your followers. It’s something they may be interested in participating in, and it’s also a good way to show your connection and involvement with local community events.
There’s nothing wrong with dropping a line to other fellow social profiles from which you share content and letting them know that you’re a fan. If they see that you support them, they might support your content in return.
Also, don’t just post links to content all the time – switch things up once in a while! Share relevant videos, photos that give your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your business, and other media. You can also interact with your followers through polls, quizzes, and other posts that encourage responses.
